Drawn in 2005.
2005
Have you heard of these things called blogs? Blogging wasn’t new in 2005, but it was still a niche hobby for the technologically minded. I had been maintaining a personal blog, and was a regular blog reader. I saw multiple-author blogs devoted to certain subjects and…
Drawn was a place I discovered half of the people I now count as my biggest inspirations and best friends, including—and chief among them—John Martz himself. I respect John’s decision to shutter it, although I will miss his curation, kind attention, and the feeling of excitement when someone’s work is first opened up to a much larger audience via Drawn. And if it returns one day, I’m even more excited at whatever shape it comes back in.
I can’t even say how many artists I’ve discovered and befriended through Drawn, also including John, AND Dustin and so many others. After trying to keep up my own blog of images and artists, and failing pretty miserably, his success is even more mind boggling. I’ll miss Drawn, but more so I’ll enjoy the time it affords John to come out for brunch with ME.
